Some movies are released at the same time but some others are released up to 3 months after. They are usually about a month behind. When we saw Spiderman 3 in San Jose, it had been out in the US for a little. It think it varies movie by movie. Here's a listing of theaters and showtimes: http://www.whereincostarica.com/cinema (For some reason, there are no showtimes listed today.) In San Jose, my favorite is San Pedro Mall cine. There are plenty of theater options in Escazu (where all the gringos live) or at the malls in San Pedro.
